A Romantic Winter Getaway in Manitoba
What better way to spend a long weekend in February… Find yourself enjoying the snow blanketed Whiteshell Provincial Park by day, and warming up indoors at the Pinewood Lodge by night. The stunning log structure settled in the wilderness of Manitoba’s cottage country holds directly onto Dorothy Lake. While the lake itself may be frozen over with ice, guests may admire the sights, both day and night, through the generous-sized lodged-styled windows. At the same time, guests will find themselves taking a dip in the indoor salt water pool or jacuzzi tub. When outside, explore through the many trails offered in the Whiteshell and appreciate the beauty Manitoba winters have to offer on snowshoes. Learn to ice fish with friends, coast alongside via cross-country skis, or simply form snow angels and take a break mid-way to admire our prairie sky.
Your All-Inclusive Experience
This uniquely designed retreat provides you with a long weekend filled with spoiling yourselves through a variety of offerings led by a fantastic team from Winnipeg. Andrea Robin will lead you through her couples yoga practice, which entails intimate sessions that will build upon trust, support and strength as a couple. Couples Yoga allows one to essentially play with your partner in a safe, comfortable setting. No distractions, no kids, no phones, just you and your Beloved. Helping each other move into asanas, feeling each others bodies as support creates intimacy, enhances various communication forms and enhances trust between partners. It’s fun and accessible to students of all levels!
You will be nourished throughout the retreat with delicious healthy meals created by your own personal Chef, Winnipeg’s Chef Jaya. She will prepare meals that accommodate all special food requests such as vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, and so forth. And you will further treat yourself to a romantic couples massage scheduled during the weekend at a time of your choice. This long weekend is designed to make you and your loved one feel rejuvenated and relaxed, while growing your relationship and connecting with the beautiful nature in the Whiteshell.
Your Retreat Team
ANDREA ROBIN – COUPLES YOGA INSTRUCTOR
Andrea Robin, 300 RYT, B.Ed, is a certified yoga mentor in the Hatha, Vinyasa and Partner yoga styles, but considers herself a student first and foremost. She firmly believes that yoga helps people to heal from within, that everyone’s journey is different, and that you can never finish learning.
Known for her genuine and welcoming demeanour, Andrea encourages students to discover their authentic selves through asana (postures), pranayama (breath work) & medtiation. She does her best to apply the teachings of various ancient philosophies to our hectic modern life. Andrea also likes to make sure that her classes are fun, accessible and varied in nature.
Having organised and taken parts in many charitable events, Andrea finds the act of giving to be one of the most fulfilling and rewarding aspects of life. To quote Winston Churchill, “We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.” The more love & compassion we cultivate, the better we make the world for everyone.
CHEF JAYA – PERSONALIZED CHEF
“The power of the feasting format is for a production effect; auditorily & visually it becomes this fantastic way for strangers to connect quickly. I love the expediency and power that can come from breaking bread with another, how intimate one can become by sharing a meal. It’s a memory you will have forever and I want my food to be a part of your memories. It’s the greatest gift anyone could give me.
My food is how I carry my home and memories with me. It’s how I express my love for you, even as a stranger. Come into my home, eat my food equates to come into my life- You are welcome here.”
Chef Jaya is a Winnipeg-based culinary artist who specializes in Italian cuisine. A familiar name to Travel Roots, she has an Italian Culinary Adventure on the Horizon between September 21 – October 2, 2018, visiting Torino, Piedmont, and Liguria. http://www.travelroots.ca/adventures-abroad/italy-culinary-adventure
Chef Jaya’s origins are few, but influences are of the many. Being raised with her grandmothers “Indian” cuisine led to the effect of food holding meaning of family & togetherness.
She had also grown up to take on her mother’s interpretation of food translating into elegance equivalently as it did family. Fast forward through the years of trying to be her own version of her grandmother, mother, and Martha Stewart; Culinary school and experiences became the next step to reaching her goal of “chef”.
A well rounded Chef who wants to know more than just the Food, but the History & Culture around it just as much!
