Experience a perfect adventure that combines natural & cultural wonders such as volcanoes, hot springs, tranquil beaches with gorgeous animal life such as toucans, sloths, and monkeys, visits to colourful Costa Rican villages, along with thrilling adventure experiences like kayaking and tubing down different rivers, and a beachfront glamping experience. This tour is full of adventure but also gives you time at the end of the trip to set up camp in a hammock and get some much needed rest and relaxation on the tranquil island of Isla Chiquita.

Day 1 | Arrival to San José - Welcome Dinner

Upon arrival to the beautiful country of Costa Rica, transfer from the Juan Santamaría Airport to San José downtown. Our representative will warmly welcome you and assist you.

Transfer to the hotel, then relax at the hotel and explore a little walking the Central Avenue and thus feel more closely the Costa Rican culture.

Day 2 | San José - Tortuguero National Park

Enjoy an early breakfast at the hotel. At approximately 07:30 hrs, it’s time to be picked up to start your adventure at Tortuguero National Park. On the way, we drive through Braulio Carrillo National Park, where we experience the first glimpses of lush rainforest and banana plantations. From this point on, continue by boat through the marvelous canals of Tortuguero, arriving at the hotel in time for lunch. After a tasty meal, we tour the Tortuguero Village, a colorful and unique place to understand better the Caribbean lifestyle. During the summer months of July and August, we offer an optional special night excursion to visit the beaches to witness sea turtles nesting (excursion not included).

Transfer: 4 hrs (70 miles) by road and 1.5 hrs by boat

Activity: Tortuguero Village experience – 1.30 hrs

Day 3 | Tortuguero National Park

Start the day with breakfast at the hotel to prepare for a full day of exploration within Tortuguero National Park by boat. We explore the flooded forests of Tortuguero, a conservation area established to protect the largest nesting grounds of green sea turtles in the Caribbean, and also the surrounding lowland rainforest — home to jaguars, manatees and the endangered great green macaw. Glide along the black waters surrounded by towering trees and lush vegetation, and try to spot the iconic keel-billed toucan, colorful parrots and the basilisk lizard, nicknamed the ‘Jesus Christ lizard’ because of its ability to run across water. As we explore the park's canals, look for all six species of New World kingfishers, as many as eight species of parrots, toucans, golden orioles and more. For plant enthusiasts, try to spot the raffia palm, a species with some of the largest leaves of any plant found in the world. Capuchin and spider monkeys may also be seen crossing the river in daring leaps.

Day 4 | Tortuguero National Park - Arenal

After breakfast at the hotel, board a boat to La Pavona at 08:30 hrs, where a bus awaits to continue your adventure to the fascinating region of Arenal, in the north-central part of the country. On route, make a stop for a typical casado lunch at a local restaurant, typically including rice, beans, a protein, plus salad. Continue on to your hotel near the town of La Fortuna and the breathtaking Arenal Volcano. For the remainder of the evening, enjoy some leisure time to relax in the hotel’s thermal pools, sourced from the underground geothermal waters of the volcano, rich in minerals, providing a truly refreshing experience.

Day 5 | Arenal -Rafting & Tubing –Sloth Tour

Prepared for an exciting time. Get wet and wild as you raft through rapids such as “Magnetic Rock” and “Dredges!” In the second section of the river, we will change directions and continue our trip on Tubes!  White water tubing gives you an adrenaline-packed experience with the freedom to tube wherever the river takes you! The trip route passes through thrilling Class I-II rapids on the Balsa River. Splash over ledges, bounce through drops, and ride some wild wave trains down the rapids in our specially designed tubes. At the end we head to the restaurant Vida Campesina, where enjoy a delicious lunch. At afternoon we go enjoy the unique adventure experience, search the sloth.

On your way back to the Hotel you will have a chance to support a local Reforestation Project in the community of La Fortuna. You will visit La Fortuna High School where this environmentally friendly experience begins; here a Forestal Engineer will explain you the purpose of the reforestation project continuing towards an agro forestry farm, in this property there is a Special Teaching School where children are taught about botanical gardening. You will enjoy a butterfly garden, nursery garden and finally, plant a tree to leave your important contribution to nature.

Day 6 | Arenal -Isla Chiquita Lodge Puntarenas

After breakfastwe go to Puntarenas, to Isla Chiquita, Island Glamping Fun, take the Ferry to sail in the Nicoya Peninsula, until Paquera to continue in dinghy to Isla Chiquita.  After we arrive to our destination, in the afternoon, enjoy the beach where you can sit back relax and enjoy the landscape. Isla Chiquita is truly a hidden place to enjoy a special connection to the ocean and landthrough adventure, delicious cuisine, and the simplicity of down-to-earth happiness.

Day 7| Isla Chiquita Lodge

Enjoy this day the waters surrounding Isla Chiquita that offer a fantastic setting for a fun kayaking adventure. Perfect to connect with the ocean; gaze at birds in flight, marvel at crustaceans, and other marine life. Relax with the incomparable serenity of gliding through the water.

Day 8 | Isla Chiquita Lodge

Last day to enjoy this dream place, enjoy the beach and stand up paddling experience or just take a sunbath and enjoy the ocean. At night enjoy Bioluminescence Adventure; our planet offers privileged locations that feature a mesmerizing natural phenomenon when the ocean lights up during very dark nights. Produced by high concentrations of light-emitting plankton, bioluminescence imbues the waters with a starry night effect. This one-of-a-kind evening kayaking adventure will seek this spectacle in the waters surrounding Isla Chiquita.

Day 9| Departure Juan Santamaria International Airport

After breakfast, you will be transferred to Juan Santamaria International Airport in San Jose to continue your travels or to catch your return flight home. It is recommended to book flights departing after 13:00 hrs (in order to avoid leaving very early from the hotel in Puntarenas).
